John 8:7-9

Mighty Servants of God. How easy it is to get our eyes off our own hearts and become obsessed with the failures and frailties of others. As if we ourselves were not, are not, prone to failure and sin. Only as we acknowledge our own sinful tendencies is there hope for lasting transformation in our lives. God’s mercy and grace leads us to repentance and enables us to come alongside others, rather than judging them when they fall.

When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.—John 8:7-9

Prayer: Jesus, forgive us for judging people. May Your unchanging mercy and grace lead us in our interactions with others. In Your name we pray, amen.
