Matthew 18:27-28

Mighty Servants of God. Jesus’ parable of the unmerciful servant is about forgiveness. Today—two millennia after Jesus spoke—this parable still finds its mark. God’s deep love for wayward sons and daughters is always available to all who desire it. Yet, we, His people, far too often offer stingy forgiveness that trickles from hearts of stone. Who do you struggle to forgive like God forgives you?

“The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded. – Matthew 18:27-28

Prayer: God, where would I be without Your forgiveness? Search my heart. Reveal any unforgiveness, resentment, bitterness, or desire for retaliation lurking in my heart. Cleanse me. Transform me. Give me Your heart of forgiveness. In Jesus’ name and for His sake, amen.
