The Real Impact of Covid

Not unlike the rest of the world, Indonesia has changed. The impact covid has had on this developing country has been difficult to say the least. Just taking 5 minutes to read the report from UNICEF (the link is below) can help you understand what has happened in this country in a general sense. However, actually being here and meeting the people, you will see how devastating it really has been. Not just in the cities but in the villages where there are already limited resources and provisions.

We see most families experiencing a reduction of income, which has a real immediate impact since many Indonesians live day-by-day. To add, with most schools still not fully open, that means students are having to do online school (or no school at all which brings a whole different problem). This adds more cost per family since most villages do not have internet access except through their phone (if they even have a smartphone). To put into context, even the JHI studio does not have an internet provider that comes to our village. We have had to use a wireless modem for all of our needs.

With all that being said, we have been doing what we can to help the children and families in our community by giving care packages, medical check ups and kids services. But there is still more that needs to be done. Please pray about joining us physically or supporting financially to see more families and communities receive help in this trying time. You can make a difference now. support JHI as we minister to the nation!

If you or your church would like to get involved with what JHI is doing, please contact us at info@jangkarharapan.com or +62 858-9000-1423. God bless you.

“We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord. For even Christ didn’t live to please himself. As the scriptures say, “The insults of those who insult you, O God, have fallen on me.”
Romans 15:2-3
