2 Thessalonians 3:5
Mighty Servants of God. The temptation to abandon the transformational journey of leading like Jesus comes in different forms. We begin to rest on past accomplishments or what we’ve already attained. We start thinking that we know best and don’t need God’s input or work in our lives. We find ourselves being resigned to doing what we’ve always done instead of looking for what God is doing now. Sometimes the temptation comes from discouragement or fatigue or overwhelming challenges, sometimes from fear, sometimes from pride. If we’re honest, each of us knows what tempts us to give up as leaders. Where does the temptation to stop growing—to stop trusting God, to think that you’ve arrived, to lead in your own strength—come at you?
May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. – 2 Thessalonians 3:5
Prayer: Lord, You know what tempts me to stop seeking to lead like Jesus, to give up and turn away. Renew me as I meditate on God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. In Jesus’ name, amen.
